Shamoon Abbasi Slams Sonu Nigam For Hurting The Sentiments Of Muslims

Indian singer Sonu Nigam’s tweets on the use of loudspeakers for Azaan in mosques sparked off a controversy. The singer later reiterated that his tweets were not anti-Muslim as he only spoke about the loudspeakers. However, the fact that he called Azaan ‘forced religiousness’ is still unacceptable.

Just yesterday, Pakistani actor Shamoon Abbasi, took to Facebook to question Sonu Nigam in a live video message.

“I’m amazed to see such a great, soulful singer, who is adored by everyone, giving such a statement,” said Shamoon.

“Did you hear Azaan for the first time in India?” he questioned. “Do you want Azaan to vanish from this world and everybody listen to your songs only?”

He also asked Sonu Nigam to explain his stance that hurt the sentiments of Muslims all over the world.

“We didn’t expect this from you. I hope that something positive will come up from your end. We still respect you and your voice and want to continue with the same. But if you don’t provide an explanation for what you’ve said, you’ll lose it,” he concluded.
