Despite of the low quality lollywood movies, Pakistan has always managed to provide its audience with the quality entertainment in shape of dramas. Though the country has got a huge list of successful dramas on its credit, there are some of the very precious dramas that are truly cherished by the viewers of Pakistan, regardless of age and interest.

This drama serial was based on the book of the same name by Farhat Ishtiaq and is also the first Pakistani drama serial that ever got aired on Indian television as well.

Cast: Rahat Kazmi, Marina Khan, Sajid Hassan, Qazi Wajid, Badar Khalil

This show was presented by PTV networks and focused on the doctors of hospital in Karachi and their daily routines and lives.

Tanhaiyaan:

Year: 1985

Genre: Family

Direction: Shahzad Khalil

Cast: Shehnaz Sheikh, Marina Khan, Behroze Sabzwari, Qazi Wajid and Asif Raza Mir

It revolved around the story of two sisters, who learnt the true meaning of a home when bought back their parents’ house after their death.

Cast: Faisal Qureshi, Samiya Mumtaz, Sarwat Gilani and Imran Abbas Naqvi

Grounded on the novel of identical name by Umera Ahmed, this show has connected very well with the audience and revolves around the story of two different individuals’ Kashaf and Zaroon and the romance between them.

Daam:

Year: 2010

Genre: Drama

Direction: Mehreen Jabbar

Cast: Sanam Baloch, Aamina Sheikh and Adeel Hussain

It is written by one of the most popular novel writers of Pakistan Umera Ahmed and the story revolves around two friends who despite of their financial status are close friends but later become opponents.

Maat:

Year: 2011

Genre: Drama

Direction: Amna Nawaz Khan

Cast: Aamina Sheikh, Saba Qamar and Adnan Siddiqui

Maat

Premiered on HUM TV it is another variation of an Urdu novel written by Umera Ahmed with the story focused around two lower class sisters which are entirely different from one another.

Direction: Haissam Hussain

Cast: Sanam Baloch, Fawad Khan, Mehreen Raheel and Babrik Shah

This drama serial is based on the novel named Bano and revolves around the lives of people who are a victim of violence and outbreak through India.

Alpha Bravo Charlie:

Year:  1998

Genre: Action and Thriller

Direction: Shoaib Mansoor

Cast: Qasim Khan, Abdullah Mahmood, Faraz Inam and Shahnaaz Khwaja

This TV series is one of the most popular drama series in the history of Pakistan industry and has set the records for getting the highest TRP’s ever in Pakistan, reproducing the military operations during Bosnian war.

Shehr-e-Zaat:

Year:  2012

Genre: Drama

Direction: Sarmad Sultan Khoosat

Cast: Mahira Khan, Mohib Mirza and Mekaal Zulfiqar

Shehr-e-Zaat

Story revolves around Falak who is the epitome of beauty and brains but goes through the journey of self-discovery after fronting many catastrophes.
