When it comes to bringing life to the characters, it is pivotal for the actors to give their characters the right treatment to make them look different & also to make the viewers feel that they are watching someone & something new on their television screens. Experimenting with looks is a very important part of an actor’s job because it defines their vision, attention to detail & maturity as a performer. When the actors experiment with their looks, it depicts that for them, their comfort zones don’t matter much, but what matters the most is how their characters are translated on screen which makes them look versatile.
Experimenting is something that helps the viewers in forming a connection with the new characters as it allows them to move on from the past performances of the actors. When the viewers get to see an actor in a new avatar, they find it easy to put the past to rest & look forward to what an actor has to offer in the new project because if the actors doesn’t change their overall look, it feels that the walked from one shooting set to another.
We have a list of those brilliant actors who are always seen experimenting with their looks & succeed in looking different in most of their dramas.
Bushra Ansari:
Bushra Ansari is an all rounder who can portray any character assigned to her on screen effortlessly. Even with so much experience Bushra Ansari is very conscious about her look in dramas. In drama serial Bilquees Kaur she had a look completely different from her look in drama serial Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley because the characters she was playing in these dramas were poles apart. Similarly right now she is part of two dramas, Jhoot and Udaari and in both these dramas her outlook matches the characters that she is playing. Bushra Ansari also shared how much homework she did to make Sheedan of Udaari look completely different so that the viewers could easily see her as Sheedan and not as Bushra Ansari. It is truly impressive that even an actress of her caliber feels that she needs to put in extra effort in order to make her roles look diverse.
Faysal Qureshi:
Faysal Qureshi is one of those convincing actors who not only put their heart & soul into their acting but also believe in changing their looks, without having much margin to experiment. Faysal Qureshi’s acting is his strength but in every single drama, Faysal tries to add a new touch to the look of his character. In the drama Bashar Momin, Faysal looked suave & polished, while still having some firmness in his body language to fit the role of a don. In the drama serial Mol, Faysal gave a very convincing performance of a man who was practical & was new to the feeling of being dependent on his wife & throughout the drama, the change in his looks depicted what he was going through. These days we’re getting to see Faysal as Shaheer in the drama serial App Ke Liye & through his styling, he has very well depicted that Shaheer is someone who is very conscious about his lifestyle, his profession & is an OCD to some extent.
Sania Saeed:
When it comes to Sania Saeed, she has given so many amazing performances in so many dramas but she made sure to make her characters seem different every single time. Sania Saeed doesn’t mind experimenting because she often takes such roles that are completely different from one another. Sania happens to be one such actress who believes in portraying very different characters because she likes to leave a mark as an actor. In drama serial Zard Mausam, where with a very simple look Sania depicted what a unhappy housewife looks like, Sania surprised everyone with her performance as Bari Sarkar in the drama serial Aseerzadi where she played the role of the head of the family & also the one who reaping fruits of being a married woman with a child, Sania pulled off the glamorous look with a lot of grace & conviction Then we have an example of recent dramas like Mor Mahal, where she is seen as a soothsayer, her styling speaks for itself & she succeeded in changing her dialogue delivery too. These days she is seen as a very simple Pukhtun housewife in Sang e Marmar & Sania has changed her entire personality to fit the role assigned to her.
Yumna Zaidi:
Yumna Zaidi is one such actress who doesn’t believe in holding back when it comes to experimenting. Yumna has always made an effort to look different in almost every single drama that she does. Even though she keeps her makeup minimum, she makes sure to bring a change in her outlook by opting for different hairstyles & clothing to fit the character that she is meant to portray. Another commendable fact about Yumna is that her experimenting is not confined to her outer look only, she is one such brilliant actress who also changes her dialogue delivery & even the tone to give a proper personality to the character that she is portraying. Where Yumna played the role of Jugnoo in the drama serial Jugnoo, which was about a girl who is boisterous & always running short on time, Yumna changed her styling to look like the one who was in charge of all the household chores & later when Jugnoo gets married, we got to see a refinement in her overall styling. In the drama Jugnoo, where Yumna was seen as someone who would speak so fast to an extent of running out of breath, in the recent drama Zara Yaad Kar, Yumna made sure to not only change her styling but also her entire dialogue delivery to suit the character of Uzma, a girl who was calm & collected, had a control on her feelings & also very conservative & simple.
Sarwat Gillani:
Sarwat Gillani’s look in drama serial Mata-e-Jaan took all the viewers by surprise because before that she hardly ever styled her hair properly and did not wear a lot of make-up. After that Sarwat Gillani continuously kept on changing her looks in different dramas. The amount of effort that must have gone into giving herself a brand new look in drama serial Dil-e-Muztar was quite evident right from the start when Zoya’s character was introduced in the drama. Also, in drama serial Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley she had very different looks before and after her character got married. The pictures from her upcoming drama in which she is playing the role of a Hindu girl show that Sarwat Gillani is not afraid of experimenting with her looks.
Osman Khalid Butt:
From Mayer to Aunn, Osman Khalid Butt in the very initial stages of his career got to experiment with the looks & proved that he would put an extra effort to give more dimension to the characters that he will be playing. In the drama Aik Nayi Cinderella, OKB got to play the role of Mayer who was very prince-like. Even though it fell more in the genre of a fantasy drama, OKB pulled off the look of Mayer with a lot of confidence. Then we got to see Osman Khalid Butt in Aunn Zara as Aunn, where initially his mother used to be responsible for his styling but as the drama progressed & Aunn became rebellious, his clothing & hairstyles changed, which perfectly depicted the phase that he was going through. In Diyar-e-Dil, we got to see two stages of Wali’s life; in his late teens & then in his 20’s & in both these stages, OKB made sure to change his styling to show the transition that he has made. In the initial phases of Wali’s life, he looked like a teenager who comes from a very decent family & it was made evident by the styling that OKB chose & then in the very last phase of Diyar-e-Diyar, Wali looked mature, groomed & a sophisticated businessman, which once again was well-portrayed by OKB.
Saba Hameed:
Saba Hameed is one of those versatile and gifted actresses who bring something new which is their very own to every character they play in dramas. Like every other actor in this list Saba Hameed knows only too well that in order to translate her character flawlessly on screen the physical appearance of her character counts as much as the way that character has been etched-out and the manner in which she delivers the dialogues. She was part of drama serial Aik Naye Cinderella in which all the actors carried looks which were very different because of the overall treatment given to the drama. Recently, Saba Hameed was seen wearing outfits which gave her a very ethnic and graceful look which went really well with the character she was playing in drama serial Dil Lagi. In Marasim her different looks suited her character as it went through different transformations. In Thakan she carried a much more simple look which was very well-suited for the character she was playing in the drama.
Malik Raza:
Malik Raza has been in the industry for quite some time now. He is a character actor that is why he chooses such projects that allow him to experiment with his looks. Malik Raza has been seen playing an array of characters & because of his brilliant acting, he elevates the level of the character that he portrays. Malik Raza has been seen in quite a lot of dramas but the projects that earned him a lot of attention were Jugnoo & Besharam. In Jugnoo he played the role of Bakhsee Jee, an old meager & mean manager of an estate & in Besharam he is seen as Wahab Sunyara, a filthy rich goldsmith who is unlettered but has done really well for himself because of his money-making skills. Malik Raza is a very brilliant actor & he makes his scenes a treat to watch because he owns the characters that he plays by giving them a very different look.
Syed Jibran:
Syed Jibran is another talented actor who is constantly experimenting with his looks. In drama serial Shukk he wore glasses, in Chup Raho he had a beard and a hairstyle which made him look very different and he had a completely different hairstyle in drama serial Khot. Although usually male actors do not have enough room to experiment but Syed Jibran’s different looks for his roles prove that when an actor takes his work seriously then he finds ways to look different to meet the requirements of the roles assigned to him.
Sami Khan:
Sami Khan has never been afraid of sporting different looks for making his character look different. He always focuses as much on the right look for his character as he does on his acting. In the recent past there were at least 3 dramas in which Sami Khan experimented with his looks a lot. In Dhani he has short hair and clean shave, whereas in drama serial Ishqa Waay his hair color and beard are totally different and in Piya Mann Bhaye he has the same hairstyle with a twist because he is seen wearing pony tails and headband in the drama. Sami Khan experiments a great deal with his looks and very often the production houses have used his varying looks to grab the attention of his fans.
