“Amjad Sabri is not dead. He is among us, listening to us. People like him don’t pass away. Those who kill them die.”
These were the words of the culture minister Syed Sardar Shah in the event organised in the memory of late Amjad Sabri. Sabri’s family including his brothers and children enthusiastically participated in the event which was initailly scheduled to held on 22nd June but was held early .The show started with M. Wasi Nizami. It also included the wonderful performances by Farid Ayaz and Abu Muhammad who also shed light on the life of Amjad Sabri.
Mr Shah also announced the making of a qawali Institute in the name of Amjad Sabri ,in Sindh as a tribute to him and his family. He briefed everyone about Billawal Bhutto Zardari’s meeting with the Sabri family in which he had already promised the making of an institute that will train the young qawals. Mr shah said that the Institute has already been made and will officially start in August.
Amjad Sabri’s heart-wrenching death a year ago shocked all his fans but Legends like him never die and the Amajd Sabri Institute is indeed an example that will keep him alive in our hearts forever.
