In early 2019, Mark Zuckerberg announced his plans to integrate the messaging services across Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger. It would make it possible for users of these applications to chat with each other without worrying about the app they need to call or send a message to.
In its first step towards achieving this goal, Facebook on Tuesday announced to allow Facebook Messenger and Instagram users to talk to each other. In simple words, a Facebook user can chat with Instagram user whether he has an Instagram account or not and vice versa.
Furthermore, Instagram inbox will also get a number of Messenger inspired features. Instagram users are given the option to update to a new messaging experience that will allow the user to change chat color, react with any emoji, watch videos together, set messages to disappear and more.
In th future, we expect to see Whatsapp get the same feature as Instagram and Facebook. “With this new update, you’ll have choice and controls to manage your privacy, including whether message requests go to your Chats list, your Message Requests folder, or whether you receive them at all,” Facebook said.
These features are currently test in a few countries around the world and will be expanded soon globally.
