The festival opens on International Women’s Day with Iranian director/writer Narges Abyar’s latest movie Breath.

Ahmed’s film focuses on the issue of tribal traditions and their justice system which lets criminal get away with their evil actions.

They (village leaders and most men) don’t listen to women, so a goal with this film was to show men standing up,” said Ahmed.

“It’s a very corrupt culture. It has nothing to do with faith.”
