The world is progressing and fighting against colourism. From centuries, we have witnessed how people with darker skin tone were treated and still, they are treated in the same way. However, people are raising their voice to demand equality and also nobody face discrimination due to their darker skin tone.
Many Pakistani celebrities including Ayeza Khan, Sajal Aly, Fawad Khan, Zara Noor Abbas and many more have endorsed whitening cream products. However, there are some celebrities who never endorse whitening cream products and one of them is none other than Mahira Khan.
Mahira Khan has always raised her voice against societal issues and she has openly rejected fairness cream advertisements.
In her recent interview with BBC Urdu, she opened up about how she received offers to endorse whitening cream products from the beginning of her career.
She said, “From the beginning of my career not as an actor but even when I was VJ, I was approached to do a lot of fairness cream and skin whitening products advertisement.”
“It doesn’t make sense to me and it never made sense to me. So I am endorsing the idea that darker girl/man is not as attractive as a fairer girl. This never made sense to me,” Khan added.
