KOI APNA NAHI-Ending and Overview

KNA1

KNA1

So we finally witnessed the last episode of “Koi Nahi Apna”.

The starting of this drama and even the preceding events were quite predictable. The story,as evident from the first episode, was heavily inspired by the super hit Pakistani movie “Aaina”. The two love birds belonged to different social classes, the rich girl longing for a loving, caring marital life, while the poor boy, well not exactly poor but middle class boy who wants to be successful in his career. But the only and the “biggest” obstacles in their life are none other than their own parents, having their own preferences.

I have to say, even if the story is not new,it can still be made interesting. But there was no such thing in it. First of all, there was no side track at all which made the whole centre of focus on the main story, which I repeat was very predictable.

This drama all in all belonged to Fahad Mustufa, especially after he announced that it maybe his last drama as he wants to give his attention towards movies and production. Time and again,Fahad has proved what outstanding actor he is. This time around too, he displayed to us a very fine performance as Hamza.Particularly, the scenes with his daughter and mother were nothing short of hilarious. The girl who played Shiza (the one from Meri Beti fame) is not just very young and cute, she is also an amazing actor as per her age. Very sorry to say,the lead couple had no chemistry to their credit. Their scenes together just did not have that appeal which a romantic themed drama couple should have. Ismat Zaidi, was good to see for a change, her negative character was breath of fresh air because so far we have only seen her in the sweetest mommy type roles. Sajid Hasan, needless to say is one of the most mature actors of the industry. His character as Alvira’s father was interesting in the beginning but after a while it just got monotonous with the same dialogues again and again. As for Sarwat Gillani, she needs to make a mind about the characters which she chooses. Because this one had absolutely nothing to offer. After the initial episodes, after some fight scenes and then the “rooth k manana” scenes, when she came back to her parents house,it seemed she just got mute. Just one take home message for Sarwat, she should give preference to her loose kurtas and natural curly hair because that looks the best on her as she is very skinny. Her look in Ahista Ahista, with skinny jeans, boots, high necks and straightened hair does not suit her.

Maheen Rizvi was again in a vamp role which in her own words, she seems to enjoy. Her acting got even better as the drama approached its ending as her character, even being gray shaded, could be felt. Salma Hasan performed her supporting role well.

But there were flaws in this play.First of all,a talented and hard working guy like Hamza, could never seem to find a job.Not even a low paid one. It is astonishing because job was the sole reason for his and Alvira’s differences. And then the neighbor,Zainab.didn’t she have any family?Ok fine she was divorced but still, any parents, friends, maybe? She was at Hamza’s place 24 hours of the day, cooking, taking care of Shiza, etc. What was her source of income? And she was Alvira’s only friend but still never tried to contact her after the break-up with Hamza? Not even a single phone call? That is really strange. The fact that her story was left untold, she came alone and remained alone was not good at all.

And that friend of Hamza Ms.Fariha, she worked in the same office as Hamza, was seen doing the office chores and then suddenly she turns out to be a lawyer,I find that odd.Can someone explain please. That Zaka was very irritating and he knew too well that Alvira was a married girl, non interested in him,but still he continued to impress her with flowers, mobile phone, dinner parties? The post-conflict scenes and especially the court scenes just didn’t seem to end.Coming to the last episode, what Zainab did, couldn’t she have done all that ages ago?Just when Hamza lost everything, she realized that maybe it’s the time to stand and speak up to Alvira. Shahnawaz fought and played his game so long with his corrupt and fake lawyer and just when he won the case, he spilled the truth to his daughter? So what exactly was the point behind all this fuss?

On the other hand,it was lovely seeing Hamza taking care of his girl, doing little things like packing her bag-pack, feeding her dinner, making her sleep, those were too cute to watch. His fights with his mother were strangly witty. Not that it should happen but the way everytime he replied to his mother’s taunts and queries was just lol!

The OST was melodious, its probably one of Sajjad Ali’s old songs, hence ought to be melodious.

Over all, this drama could be watched because this season has over all been very low as per the quality of dramas is concerned.

With this note,I want to say, that if Fahad Mustufa has plans to take a long break then we will miss you alot! All the best of luck for your production house and up coming movies.
