Heeramandi is the latest Netflix series that is trending in India and Pakistan. The series is directed by ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and it is based in Lahore before Independence. Heeramandi was a passion project for the director and it took several years and several cast changes to finally be released in the form that it did. At some point Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Imran Abbas were also meant to join the cast. The series is out now and it is getting mixed reviews.
Peer e Kamil on the other hand is a superhit Urdu novel written by Umera Ahmed. The novel is considered a cult classic and it was later released in the English language as well. Salar Sikandar, the main character, is the dream man of millions and that character single-handedly has more fame than many of the heroes combined.
Peer e Kamil has now crossed paths with Heeramandi as the novel was featured in a scene of the series. The problem however, came about that Peer e Kamil was written in 2004 while the series is based in the pre-independence era.
