Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, actors and people in general have paid their tributes to the Bollywood actor Om Puri, who passed away in Mumbai, for his efforts for the normalization of Indo-Pak ties.
Nawaz Sharif expressed his sorrow over the demise of the veteran actor. Paying homage to the acclaimed actor, 66, the premier said that Om Puri delivered some stellar performances in mainstream commercial Pakistani, Indian movies and elevated the status of Indian Cinema through his natural talent.
PM Nawaz said that late Om Puri made significant contribution in linking the cultural ties between India and Pakistan and refused to succumb to the pressure of anti peace lobbies.
Further, the prime minister prayed on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan for patience and forbearance for the family of Om Puri to bear this irreparable loss.
Om Puri acted in a Pakistani film ‘Actor In Law’, which was released late last year. The late actor played the role of Pakistani in several Bollywood and international movies, with his latest one as Maulana Sahib in the Bollywood movie Bajrangi Bhaijan. The actor regularly participated in Pakistan film festivals. Om Puri passed away on Friday January 6th, the actor succumbed to a major heart attack and was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai, India.
