Fawad Khan, a renowned model, singer and an actor previously living in the hearts of many, no longer enjoys the same status in Pakistan. He has always been very choosy when it comes to Pakistani dramas and all we have seen are his quality TV shows for which he has been given due credit and love by his Pakistani fans. Some of his shows like Numm and Ashk were not up to the mark but were still appreciated by some of his die heart fans. But his decreasing popularity graph is popping out many questions in our minds. The ‘Humsafar’ guy who was a crush of every girl next door is no longer missed on screen even by his die heart fans.
Here are few reasons for that:
Abracadabra! Make Fawad disappear!
And here you go. Fawad is no more a part of your TV screens. I am not talking about ads because ads are not something your fans look forward to. Imran Abbas went to India, did his work and came back. Ok fine! But guess what our hero Fawad practiced the phrase ‘ghar ka rasta bhool jana’ and never came back. After the famous ‘Humsafar’, he did Zindagi Gulzaar Hai and Numm and after that he went to Bollywood. ‘Art has no boundaries’ is a debatable issue and somehow it’s true to some extent but does expanding the boundary exclude your own region? No, not at all.
POOF!
The Choices he made:
Hassan, Asher and then Zaroon, one after another he left a mark with his great acting skills and charming personality. When all these dramas went on-air, Fawad was the talk of the town and we had all praises for him. The audience gave him titles like ‘Tom Cruise’ of Pakistan and he enjoyed the best time of his career when he was the number one choice of producers. He could surely do better than that and rise to peerless level of fame. But he chose to become a minor part of Bollywood movies. Khoobsurat was his Bollywood debut against Sonam Kapoor who is not even included in the top actresses of Bollywood. The film basically revolved around Sonam but that was still bearable because it was a solo movie. Next he signed Johar’s movie ‘Kapoor and Sons’. I wish he could take the title seriously but he did what was not expected. Seriously, a gay’s role? What made him do so? Some will say that doing a role won’t make you a one but was that the only role left for our ‘superstar’? When it comes to India and Pakistan, certain acceptable things become unacceptable. You’ve disappointed us Mr.Khan!
‘You be with Alia and I be with you’
What’s next? Wow! A ‘Cameo Role’:
Things didn’t stop there. He decided to make us regret our decision more of making him our favorite. I just have one question. What has he done in Bollywood till now that he has started giving ‘guest appearances’? Calling this kind of role Cameo Performance may work for some of his fans but not for all of us! We all know what status he enjoyed here. Our actors are so desperate to work in Bollywood that they will even say ‘No’ to some good projects in their hometown and accept the unacceptable in Bollywood. Is our country no more worth serving or are they not ready to do so?
‘Fans are dying to catch a glimpse of me so let’s appear in the trailer for just 0.00001 sec’
A Sudden Weight Loss:
He is a diabetic and we all know that. So calling him responsible for that is not justified at any cost. But that’s another factor behind his reduced fan following. You don’t have any blood relation with your fans and they will shower all their love on you until they find you attractive. Maybe it is so mean of them but that’s what Glamour World is all about. If that was not the case, actors would not spend a lot of money on their looks. This world is selfish and we should always be ready to face the reality!
‘Now and Then’
Arrogant to some extent:
“I had just received my award and I was sitting in my seat right next to Sultana Siddiqui in the front. She got a call from Fawad Khan; I could hear he was saying that he won’t come to the show if he did not get the front seat to sit with her. That is when Sultana Siddiqui asked me to go sit in the back seat. My problem with this whole thing was that why didn’t she ask Momina Duraid, her daughter in law who was sitting on the other side to leave her seat for Fawad Khan.”
These are the words said by Badar Khalil, a senior Pakistani actress, by herself. We all know that she would not be lying just to get attention. So he wanted to sit at front, Right? May be that seat was reserved for him as well but don’t our ethics demand from us to give an ounce of respect to our seniors. What would happen if he was seated at back and not in front? But our hero again surprised us with his behavior!
Indians claiming ‘We Gave Him Fame’:
Seriously? That’s not his fault because that’s the ‘Voice of India’. According to them, they made him what he is, as we don’t know how they all drooled over him in Humsafar and ZGH, and from there he became their choice. But who will admit that? If he would remain here, his career graph would be a lot better than where it is now. But it is the ‘Bollywood Fever’ that speaks. I really want him to make a comeback here and get what he deserves. He has the potential to do wonders then why is he wasting his talent there, where people are so offensive that they forgot his work and banned him straight away? We can’t see our talent being wasted away like this. Pakistan’s drama industry is better than India’s and our Cinema is already in the stage of revival. Should we call people from other countries to work here and save our sinking boat, while our own actors are busy working somewhere else?
Indians be like: “That was not fawad :O He must be his ‘Humshakal’”
So here were the few reasons behind decline in Fawad Khan’s fan following in Pakistan. Do share your thoughts please.
