A suicide bomber targeted the political corner meeting of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate on Friday. The death toll has crossed 200 and many are critically injured. As the nation mourns it’s countrymen former Junoon bassist Salman Ahmed’s thoughts on the matter caused an outrage on Twitter and otherwise. In a tweet, the musician wrote the lyrics of his song Junoon se and termed the deaths of the Pakistanis a ‘qurbani’ while seeking azaadi.

Ahmed was schooled by many on how the Mastung blast was massacre and not a necessary sacrifice for the greater good.

But even after much backlash, Ahmed defended his stance. He then tweeted his song and wrote, “Comparing shaheeds of today with the spirit of Jinnah’s Azadi. The psychology of martyrdom: making the ultimate sacrifice in the name of a cause.”

Twitter schooling wasn’t enough and we do not know what it would take for this politically active musician to realize that martyrdom is when someone dies fighting for something unlike those citizens who were only attending a political meeting totally unaware of what awaited them was death. It’s not martyrdom sir it’s massacre. Not a necessary sacrifice needed for a better tomorrow but an utter security failure.
