Sang e Marmar Episode 22 Review – New Beginnings!

04 Sang e Marmar Thursday 3

Another beautiful episode of Sang e Marmar. While watching this episode tonight, I was thinking about how Sang e Marmar has unfolded to be a complete journey that we have covered. I was thinking about the the moment from where it all began. It’s like we have seen a growth in the characters, their lives, their understanding, sensibility & maturity, which makes it such a wholesome experience. What’s amazing about Sang e Marmar & its story is that the writer still has so much left to show to us, that is why every episode brings a lot of surprises & even at this stage, we’re left guessing about what is yet to come. I believe the unpredictability has been the X-factor of Sang e Marmar & for that, once again, the writer & the director deserve a standing ovation for bringing a story so unique, so convincingly to us!

This episode focused more on how everyone got back to their normal lives & decided to fend for themselves. It started from Pari, it is good to see that she is quite farsighted & even though she may be stronger, she knows her weaknesses too. Pari is well aware of the fact that where she can not trust everyone easily, she has to at least depend on a few people around her to take care of Saif ur Rehman’s business for her & her child that is yet to come. Pari is thinking way ahead of time & thinks she needs to establish a battlefield to hand over to her son when he will reach that age where he’ll be able to avenge his father’s death, that is why she has started making a move. Shareefullah & Baroo Kaka accepted Pari’s offer & decided to help her with the business. I know it is such a random thing but I loved seeing the warmth & sincerity that everyone has to offer at this stage. Baroo Kaka is still loyal to Saif ur Rehman & Shareefullah is being sincere with Pari for the sake of the job that has been offered to him.

I had a great time watching Shareefullah, Durkhane & their mother’s conversations too because for some reason their chemistry made them look so genuine & truthful, like families usually are. I love how their mother always has an opinion & how she never fails in guiding her children. Even though she has been a supporting character but like all the other characters, she has emerged to be a very strong character too with a lot of screen presence because every time she embraces the screen, she automatically grabs my attention & I actually look forward to what she has to say. The way she sympathizes with Shireen, the way she understands what Durkhane is going through & this time around, the way she understood what Shareefullah was trying to say – she is such a perfect depiction of what mothers are like; dynamic, kind, authoritative & well-wishers. Also, I know it is amusing but I always find myself laughing whenever she speaks about Durkhane’s mother in law’s death, that too with so much of certainty thinking that having no mother in law would guarantee her daughter a peaceful & happy life.

Finally, Shameem decided to voice her thoughts on the matter of Riba. Even Shameem knows that everything that has happened is because Baraan Khan passed on a curse to his son Gulistan & Gulistan ended up passing that on to his all his sons, even though this was the first time that he actually handed it over to Aurang, but that curse ended up taking the lives of two of her sons too. Shameem tried to put things into perspective because she knows that she can not afford to lose more, she can not afford to lose Aurang too. Shameem, like an obedient wife doesn’t blame Gulistan for anything, but does understand that following the footsteps of his father brought him & his entire family to this stage where they are now mourning the deaths of Gohar & Safiullah. It was totally expected that Aurang will take the charge of everything that Gulistan has handed over to him, but he will form new rules & he will do everything based on the principles totally different to what Baraan & Gulistan set for themselves. Aurang could see how afraid his mother was & not only that, he even understood that the root cause of all the problems that his family has faced was Riba that is why he decided to put a lid on it. The scene where Aurang takes all the documents & burns them ended up becoming my favorite scene of this episode because it marked the new beginning. Another thing worth mentioning is that Gulistan Khan, who always took pride in what he has established through his business, stood there like a spectator, seeing Aurang taking full control, which showed that when Gulistan requested his son to succeed him & when he requested Aurang to set him free, he meant it & that is why, now when Aurang finally decided to take an action, Gulistan didn’t stop him at all. The way Gulistan Khan hugged Aurang went to show that he was not only happy, he was satisfied with the decision that Aurang made & was completely confident that his son won’t put him down. The hug portrayed the respect Gulistan as a father had for Aurang, his son!

On & off I have felt some sympathy for Pari but the way she once again spewed venom against Shireen just because she found out that Saif ur Rehman made his sister entitled to some of his property made me loathe her character completely & convinced me that she is not someone to be sympathized with. The fact that she has been a negative character is not disturbing, but what’s disturbing is that she is well aware of the fact that it was Durkhane who had an affair with Gohar, but still she chooses to malign Shireen’s name. Pari has gotten rid of Shireen based on these lies, she kept her husband in the dark till he was alive & even now when that thing should be done & dusted, she doesn’t even bat an eyelid before bringing that lie up once again, it’s like she is going to benefit herself from that lie as much as she can without even thinking twice. To be honest, at this stage, I really want to see Pari losing everything that she is trying hard to hold onto because she actually deserves it.

Ah!!! I so fell for the trick thinking Durkhane will actually reveal the truth but it ended up being a thought that just crossed her mind. Durkhane knows that the consequences can be grave but she is slowly & steadily preparing herself for it & even though she hasn’t come to that point, just the fact that she is thinking on those lines is relieving because it shows that eventually she will bring herself to say the truth about how Shireen was & has been innocent right from the beginning. It was sad to see that Shareefullah chose to believe Pari, whereas just a few moments ago he told his mother how he was interested in getting married to Shireen. Even though I don’t want to see Shireen getting married to Shareefullah, but what I want to see is Durkhane taking complete responsibility of what she has done!

Accha jee, looks like Torah Khan is now interested in the property & the land that Gulistan Khan has because he believes his father earned it. I am sure there’s a lot to be revealed about that aspect too but at the moment, it was good to see Gulistan & Torah sharing a laugh & having a light hearted conversation where Torah was being teased by Gulistan. Aurang & Palwasha’s scene was sweet but hmmm, what seemed sweeter was the preview where Gulistan Khan asks Shireen if she’d get married to Aurang. :D I so hope the director doesn’t trick us again & it happens to be an actual scene, an actual conversation & a genuinely asked question!

I loved watching this episode like all the previous episodes of Sang e Marmar. It was light-hearted but it most certainly had the essence of what this story is about. Looks like we’re past the stage of depression & now everything is shaping itself up & for the better. I remember just a few episodes ago I had so many questions in my mind & now most of them have been answered so I am definitely looking forward to the remaining questions to be answered too which I am sure will be covered. It is absolutely amazing how the writer & the director turn everything into a riddle & then solve themselves up for the viewers. It is amazing how Aurang who was always in the background while still being an important part of the family has now come to the forefront & has actually emerged as a savior of his family. I am happy with the progress Aurang has made but I’ll become a lot happier when he will agree to get married to Shireen. Sherbano was missing from this episode but I am sure no one missed her. I actually miss Bulbul Khan, I am sure he still has something left to offer & just one confession of his might change the dynamics once again. At this stage, I don’t even want to predict or make speculations because the writer & the director have always been ahead of us & I am sure they have that settled as well, so yep, not thinking much, but just looking forward to what is yet to come. All the actors acted brilliantly in this episode & like always the dialogues, the direction & the way this episode was written, everything was on-fleek. Kaif Ghaznavi makes her scenes a treat to watch & the way she has convinced us all to loath Pari’s character is her success as an actor. I loved the acting of the actresses who are playing the characters of Durkhane & Durkhane’s mother too. Can’t wait for the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about this beautiful episode of Sang e Marmar.
