Ramadan dramas became a huge trend in Pakistan after the massive success of Suno Chanda. The 30 episodes that air daily became a fan-favorite format and an opportunity for the whole family to sit together and enjoy after a day of fasting. These dramas are all family series with a lot of comedy to make them light and digestible for every day. Dil Wali Gali
Dil Wai Gali is the biggest Ramadan drama brought by Hum TV for its coveted 9 p.m. slot. The show has already revealed its first look and Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail will be taking on the lead roles. The duo was last seen in Zard Patton Ka Bunn which got critical acclaim. What is the best thing about Dil Wali Gali is the return of the writer-director duo Zafar Mairaj and Kashif Nisar after Kabli Pulao and Mann Jogi. This has raised a lot of hope and seems like Dil Wali Gali may get the lost glory of Ramadan dramas.
Rakshi Sweets
Rakshi Sweets is another Ramadan drama that will air this year on Green TV. The show has once again brought a pairing that fans were asking for. Sehar Khan who had a great run in Ramadan previously with Fairy Tale will be sharing the screen with Khushhal Khan. The drama is directed by Shahid Shafaat and this fresh pairing is what will be attracting a huge audience.
Kaffara Pairing
Laiba Khan and Ali Ansari made one of the most successful couples last year and they are all set to make a comeback together with a Ramadan drama. Not many details are out yet but the lead couple will be enough to pull eyeballs towards this one. Fans of Salar and Sitara will flock to this untitled drama. It will air on Geo.
Tere Aane Se 2
Tere Aane Se aired with Muneeb Butt and Komal Meer. It was a huge and chaotic drama with a fun story. This one did well but it was not a huge hit. Geo is bringing them back for their Ramadan project with a second season. Not sure how good it will be this time but the pairing is something that worked last time.
My Dear Cinderella
Khaqan Shahnawaz has worked in Ramadan drama before and it was not a huge hit. This time around he is coming back to Hum TV again with Zara Peerzada in the upcoming drama My Dear Cinderella. He is also joined by none other than Juggan Kazim. This will be another family drama with comedy. Let’s see how this new pairing works.
Aagha Ali & Saheefa Jabbar Starrer
Another Ramadan drama to hit your screens this year has Aagha Ali and Saheefa Jabbar in the lead. The show is directed by Mohsin Mirza and this is another fresh pairing. Aagha has already starred in a Ramadan drama which was not a big hit and Saheefa wanted to pick up a light show. It will be interesting to see how this one will go.
Though it seems we are getting a lot of repetitive content again this year, some shows are looking promising and they may be able to win the audience bringing back the lost glory of Ramadan dramas!
