Mumtaz comes from the golden era of the Pakistani film industry. She has worked with Sultan Rahi, Waheed Murad, Munawar Zareef, Nadeem Baig and all the other big names in the industry. She ruled as the leading lady and only did good scripts before she left for Canada and settled there. She is now back in Pakistan as her son wants to enter the industry and thus we got to see her again on National television.
She was a guest on PTV Home where she talked about why the film industry had such a bad fall. Mumtaz was very candid and said that the lack of education is the main reason for what happened to the film industry. Our filmmakers were just after the same topic and had no innovation. Consequently, people stopped watching films.

She also revealed her future plans. She said that she will not be coming towards direction but she will be starting her own production house soon. Her production house will give a chance to young artists so they can make their own mark in the industry.
