Kabli Pulao was the recent popular Pakistani drama serial which was loved by the traditional PTV drama lovers. Kabli Pulao’s unique storyline captivated a huge public attention and garnered a global viewership as well. The drama broke conventional notion of a hit serial. The drama was directed by Kashif Nisar and it was written by Zafar Mairaj for Green Entertainment channel. This week, the Green Entertainment aired last episode of the drama which was praised by the fans.
Recently, Zafar Mairaj, the Kabli Pulao writer, appeared in Haute Talk with Hassan Choudary. In the interview, he talked about the casting of Haji Mushtaq & Baran.
Talking about Haji Mushtaq, he said, “I narrated to Kashif about Haji Mushtaq as an immaculate and pious man who never came across any woman in life. I wanted an emotionally free man for this character, someone who had never experienced any closeness or relationship in his life. After my narration, Kashif suggested Muhammad Ehtishamuddin’s name. Obviously, we are from the same batch, and I instantly agreed on the selection.” Discussing how Muhammad Ehtishamuddin fit into this character, he mentioned, “His portrayal was better than what I had imagined for Haji Mushtaq.” Here is the link to the video:
Talking about Baran’s selection, he said, “I had my reservations about Abdullah Farhat Ullah, of course, I wasn’t convinced with his selection but I trusted Kashif, Abdullah Farhat Ullah has totally changed my perception, he has hit the ball out of the park. I mean I literally got goosebumps after seeing a few of his performances, he portrayed an Afghani guy perfectly, his performance turned Baran into my favourite character” Here is the link to the video:
The writer gave all the credit of the success to the cast, he said, “I believe our drama became successful because of the cast, initially, it was the cast which attracted the people, they translated it so well through the portrayal”.
