Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. It is one of the sacred Islamic months. It has a lot of religious significance. Muslims across the world observe sorrow and deep grief in this holy month because of the Shahdah of the dearest grandson of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H), Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A). The battle of Karbala took place in Muharram, the dreadful battle resulted in sorrowful martyrdom of Hussain Ibn-e-Ali’s along with his countless devotees. Muslims observe Muharram with sheer grief and immense respect.
In Pakistan, almost all the people observe Muharram with respect. People avoid entertainment festivities and parties. They arrange feasts for the people.
