Pakistan has a very scattered schooling system. We have children studying in Madrassas with very little to no access to the worldly disciplines of study. Then we have students studying in the matri, FSc system while there is a small ratio studying in the elite schools under Cambridge and Agha Khan Boards etc. So, the country has no one type of environment in the basic schools we have but College Gate came under criticism for showing a college that does not really exist in Pakistan.
College Gate was an instant hit with the audience as soon as it came out. People loved the drama in the show but many thought that there are no such schools in Pakistan and the environment shown is foreign to people in Pakistan.
The cast of College Gate gave an interview to Fuchsia and Zarar Kahn and Mamya Shajjafar weighed in on this criticism. They shared that such schools do exist in Pakistan. He said that he studied in such a school while Mamya also shared that her school had this sort of environment.
