Amjad Sabri was a prominent Pakistani Qawal and Naat khawan. He was born in 1970 and was shot dead in Karachi on 22nd June 2016, in the month of Ramadan. He was the son of famous Qawal Ghulam Farid Sabri and was the nephew of Maqbool Ahmed Sabri of the famous ‘Sabri Brothers alliance’. His exceptional singing skills made him a famous Qawal of Sub-continent. Now, his son Mujaddid Amjad Sabri is carrying his legacy.

Recently, Amjad Sabri’s son Mujaddid appeared in Hansna Mana Hai, hosted by Tabish Hashmi. In the show, he talked about how ruthlessly main stream electronic media behaved with them after their father’s death.

“Yes, we experienced this exploitation from mainstream channels. They would call us for interviews and ask shallow questions. When we returned home, their vans would be waiting outside our house. Not only that, but we were always surrounded by people as well. I know it was their love, but we had no private time. Once, I even called out a famous channel’s anchor, but he deleted that part from the interview. When he asked me, ‘Do you remember your father?’ I responded, ‘Is your father alive? I will ask about him when he is no more. We moved to Lahore just to avoid the limelight and exposure.”
