Javed Akhtar is a celebrated Indian writer and lyricist. He is the name behind films like Deewar and Sholay. He has also visited Pakistan several times and became a part of events like the Faiz Festival. He has largely received respect from Pakistan and the Pakistani artists.
He chose to speak derogatory words about Pakistan while he was visiting and now he has something more to say about the on-going “ban” on Pakistai artists in India.
Speaking to the Indian media, Javed Akhtar said that at the moment, Pakistanis working in India are not possible. He then went on a tirade and said that the artists working here are one-sided traffic. He added that the other side of the issue is if we do not allow these artists to come to India, how can they then report back to their people how free Indian people are and how many rights they have. Thus that is also a point that needs to be considered.
Listen to his point of view here:
Pakistani artists Mansha Pasha, Aqeel Malik and Mishi Khan called Javed Akhtar out for his views. Mansha said that people who were calling him here and sitting at his feet should reconsider their approach. Mishi Khan also said that people who keep inviting him should have some self-respect now.
The public is also speaking out against Javed Akhtar’s comments on Pakistani artists who were sitting at his feet. One netizen said, “You sat at his feet and that is what he did to you in return, actually makes you sit at his feet.” Another added, “Our artists are so good and still they try to appease people like him.” One added, “India has really insulted these artists.” This is how the public is reacting:
