Irfan Ahson recently shared a story in a video. He revealed that many times this money throwing is more of an act to show your financial superiority and it is not actually given to the artists who are invited. He narrated that at an elite wedding, the qawwals were asked not to pick up floor money. They were told that the floor money will be gathered and the family will hand it to the artists in the end. Men in the family started throwing money in the air. Qawwals got excited and there were millions in floor money which the family filled in bags. In the end, the money was not given to the artist and it was only thrown to show off.

In another instance, Malkoo was given fake currency as floor money. He used it to get his cars filled with petrol and was later stopped by the police when the money turned out to be fake. Irfan Ahson and his team also shared that the dollars thrown at these weddings are always one dollar bills and never greater than that.
