Pakistani celebrities, like other people, have their fair share of struggles. Parenting a few decades back was a totally different ball game. Before the 1980s and even in the 1990s, parenting was strict and inflexible. All the kids from the 90s and before have always shared how they did not have a friendly relationship with their parents, particularly their fathers.

Many of these stars faced opposition from their parents because they wanted to join showbiz. The entertainment industry was not considered a lucrative or, in many places, a respectable profession in the past. Parents used to oppose their children from becoming actors, singers or performers. Shabbir Jan

Shabbir Jan is hands down one of the best actors Pakistan has ever produced. His grip on the script and his performances make him a star to watch out for. He is a self-made man. He has a struggle of years behind him, which has made him the star he is today. Shabbir Jan is a Pakistani celebrity whose life may look glamorous, but he has struggled at all stages of life. He has shared many times how his father was very strict with him.

In an interview with Sajid Hasan, he revealed that he was very restless during childhood. His parents married him at 18 to stop him. His father was very strict and he has been beaten up many times. Once he ran off home due to getting beaten. His relationship later on improved with his father after he became successful in his career. Shabbir Jan later on had a very friendly relationship with his children from his second wife Farida Shabbir. This is what he shared:

Babar Ali

Babar Ali is another Pakistani celebrity who managed to win hearts both in cinema and television. He is versatile and he performed both positive and negative roles. He always had this hero persona and women used to fall over for his long hair in the 90s. The actor is very close to his parents. We often see his father in pictures and reels that he shares but the relationship was not always this friendly. Babar Ali shares in Hasna Mana Hai that he never used to sit with his father when he was young. His father was a discipliarian and he was also not very fond of his work in showbiz. He slowly started understanding his work and the father-son duo has gradually grown closer over the years.

Sabahat Bukhari is a very versatile and graceful Pakistani celebrity. She has worked in many dramas and her screen presence is strong. She is also a star who dealt with a strict parent. Her father had a beautiful relationship with her but she wanted to work in the media. This is where their bond started derailing. Her father was strict and he did not want to see her work in showbiz. He gave her permission to work in the media but they never spoke the way they used to before her career.

The starlet revealed that her father passed away and they still never spoke about this openly. She wishes now that she might have spoken to him. This is a regret that she holds till date. Here is how she shared her pain:

Maya Ali is a superstar today. She has worked in dramas, films and she owns one of the most successful clothing brands of Pakistan. She started her career with hosting and moved on to work in dramas. Her brother and her mother are always seen supporting her but that was not the case from her father’s side initially.

Maya Ali’s father was against her joining showbiz. She went against him and started hosting. Later on she received acting offers and she started working in dramas. Her mother supported her throughout. Her father did not speak to her for three years and she was broken inside. He later on became okay with it and started supporting her work. Javed Sheikh is another Pakistani celebrity who is considered one of the most successful, global stars of Pakistan. He is a self-made man and he has never shied away from sharing his life story. He has openly spoken about how he was a directionless youth while he was living in Rawalpindi. His father was strict but he still used to find ways to do things that aggravated him.

Javed Sheikh once planned to run off to Lahore with his friends on a train. He got caught by his father who took him home and beat him up. His father later sent him to Karachi so he can be reformed and get a good education. Javed Sheikh credits his father’s strictness which saved him from an ill-fate. His father was also against him joining showbiz and he used to hide his initial work from his father:

Nisho Jee & Sahiba

Nisho Jee is a film star of Pakistan. She is another Pakistani celebrity who has managed to remain relevant through decades. She is known now for her juicy interviews and content creation. She has also been very open about her life. Her three marriages, her passion or acting and how she thinks of the industry, she has never hidden her point of view.

Nisho Jee has shared how her own mother beat her up when she wanted to become a heroine. She powered through everything and joined films. History repeated itself when Sahiba wanted to become a heroine and now Nisho was stopping her. She nearly attempted to take her own life when Nisho permitted her career. Later on Sahiba’s marriage with Rambo also got delayed as Nisho was not allowing them to get married:

Bushra Ansari is a legendary artist of Pakistan. The actress has a career spanning over four decades. She is a Pakistani celebrity who was never short of fame but she has seen her fair share of struggles. Her father was a renowned writer and journalist. Her elder sister also became a successful writer while her other sisters are actresses. Asma Abbas once revealed that Bushra had to go through fire for her career.

Asma Abbas revealed that her father was not as open-minded for his daughters as he was generally in life. She shared that he wanted to stop Bushra Ansari’s work when she became an actress and it was not as easy as it looked to the world:

Fiza Ali

Fiza Ali is an actress, singer and host. This Pakistani celebrity has also been very open about her life. She started working at a very young age and she has never stopped since. She has always shared admiration for her mother and how she kept standing with her through all struggles. But her father is a separate story.

Speaking to GNN, Fiza Ali revealed that her father was abusive. He was never in her life as he beat up her mother severely when her mother was pregnant with her. She never supported them financially or otherwise. The actress has no feelings for her father and only forgave him for her mother’s sake:

Ali Abbas is another Pakistani celebrity who comes from a showbiz family. His grandfather Inayat Hussain Bhatti and his father Waseem Abbas are both stars. He wanted to become a star and join acting just like his father but he never supported his aspirations. The actor shared that he completed a law degree to please his father but his passion was always acting. Waseem Abbas never helped him in his career and he struggled himself.

Hina Altaf

Hina Altaf is another Pakistani celebrity who opened up about dealing with a difficult parent. The actress and host revealed in an interview that her mother had schizophrenia. The starlet revealed that she has been beaten by her parents in childhood and her equation with her mother deteriorated due to her disease. Her mom was going through a medical condition and it stressed her relationship.

Hina Altaf shared that she was border line tortured by her mother as she used to think she may be going somewhere wrong when she used to leave for work. This is what she shared:
