Dastak is a drama that has touched upon many problems of our society. Starring Sohai Ali Abro, Ali Raza, Feroz Kadri and Momina Iqbal, the drama has shown the struggles of a single mother. How a single mother is treated in this society, her second marriage is a huge issue and how families in Pakistan are never able to honourable carry out a custody agreement is shown in the drama.
Kiran played by Sohail Ali Abro is a very strong woman. She went through a betrayal, an abusive marriage, she raised her son alone and took a second chance at love. Meanwhile Faryal played by Momina Iqbal represents a woman’s ego and what happens when she is not able to provide a man what he wants from her. Feroz Kadri is also exceptional and portrays a man who is willing to go to any lengths as his beloved wife cannot give him a child. He wants to snatch away the son he once abandoned. Ali Raza, on the other hand, is the representation of good men who are still present in the society.
Dastak fans are happy with the mature lessons imparted in this drama. One user wrote, “Kiran shows how strong a woman becomes when she is a mother.” Another added, “This drama teaches us to leave a toxic marriage and never settle with it.” One said, “Divorce ruins a child which is rightfully portrayed through Shani.
