Abdul Basit is a famous Pakistani television actor known for his hit PTV dramas, including long plays like Flight and Diya Jalaey Rakhna Hai. His notable TV series include Danish, Saarang, Band Gali, Green Card, Guest House, and others. The actor was admired for his expressive eyes, facial expressions, and charming personality, which quickly made him a popular face on television. However, he left acting at the peak of his career and never looked back. Abdul Basit is now active on YouTube, where he often posts informative videos and old TV drama clips.
Recently, the bureaucrat and former actor appeared on Wasi Shah’s famous show Zabardast. During the show, he revealed a personal reason for leaving acting.
Abdul Basit said, “I am a strong advocate of women’s empowerment. The biggest example of this is that I left the drama industry because of my wife. I worked in dramas for sixteen years but quit after my wife asked me for it. She said, ‘When you married me, you were not a drama artist. I married a simple man, a bureaucrat who was living his life in a disciplined way. Now you have started acting, you remain busy in the office, and after that, you go to the shooting and come home late at night, which is not right.’ I was an amateur, part-time actor, and I took her words seriously. Since I also had a job, I chose not to break my home and decided to leave my passion and hobby. I was even offered a film, Shehzada, by the makers of Armaan, but I didn’t accept it.” Here is the link to the video:
