Ahmed Rafique is a young actor who is slowly making is presence known in the drama industry. He is currently starring in ARY Digital’s Naqaab. The drama is doing well as per viewership and he came for an interview with co-star Hina Tariq on Fuchsia. They both spoke about their project, passion for acting and how they will navigate the politics of showbiz.
Ahmed Rafique spoke about the harassment and power play many new artists face when they start their careers. His co-star Hina Tariq shared that she believes in giving a firm shut up call to anyone who does that and people who are joining acting should have that confidence. Ahmed Rafique said that at times people are not able to do that and what is needed to be said is the person who is harassing is in the wrong, regardless of how the victim behaves.
Ahmed Rafique then went on and shared his own experience. He said he has faced harassment on a very big set when he was pretty young. When he was approached that way, he was traumatized for two days. He did not know what to do and he then understood how women feel when something like this happens. He also shared that in the industry if you are too vocal against this behaviour, your career will be ruined by people in power. Thus people get stuck in choosing between their careers and speaking up against sleazy behaviour they have faced. He also said that men go through this a lot and they never talk about it.
