He is the son of veteran actor, educationist, and writer Naeem Tahir, and renowned radio personality Yasmeen Tahir. Ali Tahir is married to actress Wajeeha Tahir, who was also an actor and a cast member in his debut TV appearance Teen Bata Teen.

Recently, Ali Tahir appeared on Good Morning Pakistan, hosted by Nida Yasir. In the show, he opened up about his father’s cancer diagnosis in 2006.

Talking about it, Ali Tahir said, “It was heavy news. I think he was diagnosed with cancer in 2006. At Maghrib, we got this news, and you can imagine what the scene must have been like at the dinner table. Our father has this quality that he faces such diseases head-on, so he decided that he would get the surgery done within two days. I remember the discussion—it was a tough time. We even wondered if that might be our last dinner together, but the operation was successful. One kidney was removed. I can share the symptoms as information for viewers: he once went to urinate and the urine was blood red, but there was no pain. The doctor said that if it’s painless, it must be checked immediately—and he was right, it was cancer. Thankfully, he’s fine now.” Here is the link to the video:
