Ali Zafar is the rock star of Pakistan. He is a singer, songwriter, actor and producer. He is also an artist and he has now written a heart wrenching poem for slain content creator Sana Yousaf. Ali has many powerful women in his own life and he has always spoken about his mother and wife’s influence on his thoughts and mindset.
Sana Yousaf was just a 17 year old TikToker based in Islamabad who used to make content on her social media accounts. She was targeted by a man who liked her and wanted to be with her. The young star rejected his advances and that is what the man could not take. He targeted Sana in her home and shot her which resulted in her death on the spot.
Ali Zafar has written a poem for Sana Yousaf and many other women who have fallen victim to men’s violence. He shared that his heart was heavy after he heard the news and he wanted to express the pain he felt through words. He said that the onus falls on all men and how men need to be taught kindness and empathy. The star added unless we raise our sons right, we will keep losing our daughters.
This is the message Ali Zafar wants to share:
The tragedy of Sana Yousaf has left a heaviness I cannot shake. But this grief is not new. From Qandeel to Noor, the names change, the wound remains. The onus is on us — men. Until we unlearn what we were taught, and raise our sons with gentleness, empathy, and respect, we will keep losing the daughters of this land. I couldn’t carry this ache in silence, so I wrote. What I share today is not just poetry, but a prayer for change. English translation Love – Ali Zafar 4 June, 2025 Love is not to own, but to feel, to believe A woman is not a thing — she is whole, complete A man is he who smiles when he sees her fly Whose soul turns restless when he hears her cry Whose respect lives not in what she wears But in the quiet grace his gaze declares Love is not built on one side’s submission But held by equal worth, not silent permission Judge her not by beauty’s fleeting flame But seek the truth within her name What kind of man feels wounded pride By a woman’s power to turn aside? A real man wins her heart, not by demand or decree But with the strength of grace, and the soul to set her free #sanayousaf ♬ original sound – Ali Zafar
