Col (Retd) Qasim Shah is a well-known face in Pakistan who rose to fame through his iconic ISPR dramas Sunehery Din and Alpha Bravo Charlie. He was a PMA cadet when he was offered the role in Sunehery Din. His charming personality was admired by fans. Qasim Shah served in the Pakistan Army for more than 25 years and retired as a Colonel a few years ago.
Recently, he appeared on Bol TV’s show Chatti Kay Bachay Aap Sey Achay, where he revealed how he landed an important role in Shoaib Mansoor’s dramas, including Sunehery Din and Alpha Bravo Charlie.
Talking about the experience, he said, “I was once punished at PMA and had to stay at the academy while the rest of the cadets were on holiday. At PMA, there was often no logical reason for punishment. One day, I was called by the commander who told me to accompany Shoaib Mansoor for two days. I guided him around the academy, explaining different things. During that time, he kept observing me and smiling, which felt quite strange. He was speaking to me with great respect, which was also unusual for me. I felt really happy during those two days. After about two months, I was summoned by the captain at the academy headquarters. I thought I had made a mistake. Then I was sent to another venue where Shoaib Mansoor, Mohsin Rizvi, Saleem Sheikh, Faraz and Kashif were already sitting. When I entered the room they greeted me and then they handed me a script to read. I was already nervous, but when I delivered the dialogues, everyone became so excited and said, ‘Weโve found Gulsher!’ And thatโs how I got the role.”
Fans were excited to hear Col Qasim’s side of story in an entertaining manner. They also praised his lively personality and storytelling. Read a few comments:
