Today, Bushra Ansari appeared on Good Morning Pakistan’s 14th August Special, where she spoke about the importance of arranging simple weddings. She shared her own experience of a simple Nikah ceremony with Iqbal Ansari.
Talking about it, Bushra Ansari said, “I am telling you an old story from around 45 years ago. In 1978, when Ansari Sahab was a TV employee earning Rs. 1200 per month as a government servant, he told my father that he could sell his car to buy gold jewelry and take a loan for the walima ceremony. My father refused, saying, ‘No, the car will be of use to you, you will travel in it whereas jewelry will be of no use. Also, there is no need for a loan for lavish walima function, people will simply leave the venue after eating, and you will remain in debt. I will take care of it and arrange the Nikah.’ God knows, our wedding was done one thousand rupees, without loans, jewelry, or unnecessary expenses—and we never had to repay any debt afterward.” Here is the link to the video:
