Recently, Bushra Ansari appeared on NJ Spotlight’s show The Light Within, hosted by ace Pakistani actress and host Misbah Khalid. During the show, she explained why she did not change her surname after her divorce from her husband, Iqbal Ansari.
Bushra Ansari said, “My name on official documents is Bushra Bashir, but I am Bushra Ansari. A lot of people tell me to remove Ansari from my name, but actually, I don’t want to confuse people. For example, Saba Hameed was remembered as Saba Parvez for a longer period of time, and people became used to calling her Saba Parvez. Likewise, if I change my surname now, people will remain confused between Bashir and Ansari. So, I said no, I won’t change my name. Ansari Sahab himself is a popular figure, my daughters are Ansaris, and if the Ansaris have no problem with me keeping their name, why is it a concern for other people?” Watch the video here:
