Hamza Ali Abbasi is one of the biggest stars of the current generation. He is known for his strong characters on-screen, his looks and his opinions which he openly expresses in interviews regarding politics and religion. The actor has been a part of classics like The Legend of Maula Jatt, Pyaray Afzal and Mann Mayal. The actor started from theatre in Islamabad and worked his way upto dramas and films.
Hamza Ali Abbasi was according to theatre director Dawar Mehmood, not a good actor. He was a product of nepotism. Dawar was a guest on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast. He revealed that they were performing Phantom of the Opera and in those days, Shah Sharabeel, the main director behind good theatre and brother of Ushna Shah used to cast people based on who can give him good TADA. Hamza Ali Abbasi comes from a privileged background. He was cast as the main lead while Zahid Ahmed was dropped just because his family owned a guest house which they could give for the director’s stay.
Dawar Mehmood revealed that he and his contemporaries never considered Hamza Ali Abbasi to be a good actor. He also imitated his voice and said that people from theatre still do not consider Hamza a great actor.
