The star-studded cast features Omer Shahzad, Saniya Shamshad, and Haroon Shahid.
So far, Geo TV has aired 20 episodes of the drama. A scene from Uswah has been going viral, featuring a dramatic nikah sequence set right inside an educational institution. In the scene, Sania Shamshad’s character, Uswa, and Omer Shahzad’s character, Essa, are sitting with friends where they solemnize their nikah in a playful, casual way. Both take each other’s names and accept the marriage while their surrounding friends clap and cheer. Social media users are reacting strongly to the scene. Many agree with the Mufti’s interpretation, stating that a nikah is valid if there is mutual acceptance between a boy and a girl in the presence of two witnesses. Many argued that a wali (guardian) is mandatory for a valid nikah. Many users shared personal stories, mentioning that they had verbally “accepted” boys in the past and are now married to other men.
