Mehfil e Ramzan is a Green Entertainment special Ramzan transmission hosted by renowned Pakistani celebrities Danish Taimoor and Rabia Anum Obaid. The transmission is known for its well-researched content in line with the spirit of the holy month. Viewers are closely following it because important religious issues are discussed by qualified Muftis.

Recently, Rabia Anum Obaid asked a Mufti about family planning. She said, “Are temporary means of birth control allowed in Islam? For example, there are ways through which one can temporarily stop childbirth, not the ones involving operations that permanently prevent women from having children, are they allowed?”

Mufti Fazl e Zaman replied, “Islam says not to kill your children out of fear of poverty, as Allah provides for every soul that is born. Therefore, birth control for such reasons is not allowed. However, if a doctor advises that a woman is not able to give birth due to medical reasons, then it can be considered. It is not permitted if done intentionally out of fear of poverty, and the doctor giving such advice should be a qualified Muslim.” Watch here:
Social media users are expressing mixed reactions to the topic. One netizen wrote, “Is this really an Islamic show?” Another wrote, “What is this nonsense being discussed on TV?” Another commented, “It is only in Allah’s hands—He decides whom to give children, whom to give more children, and whom to keep without children.” Another added, “This is a good topic, but it should not be discussed on a family show.” However, a few people praised the discussion, saying that awareness is necessary and such topics should be addressed.
