The medical profession is regarded as one of the most respected and noble fields across the world. Doctors and healthcare providers are often seen as lifesavers, offering care and comfort to patients in their most vulnerable moments. However, the growing influence of social media has turned a few doctors into mere digital creators.

In a disturbing turn of events, two female Pakistani doctors, Dr. Ayesha and Dr. Tayyaba, who were serving at a hospital in Lahore, were found betting on ongoing C-sections, saying, “Let’s see which of the two will complete the C-section first.” In addition, they even had a referee who was observing the side-by-side procedures. The doctors and staff members also made victory signs while the procedures were underway. Watch here:
According to the reports, the action has been taken against the female doctors and they have been sacked. The suspended doctors are Dr Tayyaba Fatima Toor, Dr Maham Ameen, Dr Zainab Tahir, and Dr Ayesha Afzal. In the show-cause notice issued to the suspended doctors it was stated that such actions constitute a violation of medical ethics, an insult to patient dignity, and a breach of professional standards, all of which are strictly prohibited under government rules and hospital SOPs.

This heinous incident has sparked widespread criticism across Pakistan. Additionally, concerns have been raised about the use of mobile phones in operation theatres by both the public and digital creators. Doctors who are also active as content creators have also raised their voice against female doctors involved in the incident. Several popular doctors influencers, who have been responsibly doing digital creation as health care providers, have also spoken out against the unprofessional and unethical behaviour of such doctors. DR Affan Qaiser, Dr Javed Iqbal and Dr Bisma have slammed female doctors crime. Dr Javed said, ‘It is strictly prohibited and unethical as doctors to breach patient’s privacy or to indulge into such activities like betting in operation theatre, but most importantly, a surgeon should keep one thing in mind that he doesn’t need to be speedy but competent’. Dr Affan Qaiser said, ‘The environment at operation theatre is always comfortable, friendly and professional but not the one we saw in that specific video’. Watch videos here:
