Bas Tera Saath Ho is a hit Pakistani drama written by the late Saira Raza and directed by Qasim Mureed. It is a presentation of Six Sigma Productions. The drama features an ensemble cast and marks the debut Pakistani drama series of Faran Tahir, a renowned Hollywood actor who has appeared in films such as Iron Man and others. Faran Tahir is the brother of Ali Tahir and the son of Naeem Tahir and Yasmin Tahir, who are popular PTV artists.
Recently, Faran Tahir appeared on ARY Digital’s show The Buzz, hosted by Hassan Choudhury. During the show, he defended his character Mursalin.
Sharing his thoughts on playing a negative character in Bas Tera Saath Ho, Faran Tahir said, “You should portray a character as a human being, even if it is an evil character. You should always show the good side of the character as well. The audience connects through this. Nowadays, attention spans are short, so viewers should see both the good and bad sides. Mursalin is a simple man who starts his day with checking his bank balance and expenses. Children come to him asking for money, and he is balancing work and various situations. Yes, there are times when his inner evil or monster comes out, but he has his justifications. No person wakes up and says, ‘Today, I will be the most evil person.’ There must be justifications for every bad person. He feels justified in his particular situation and role. It depends on how the audience perceives him. If they find him bad, then that’s their interpretation, but he himself does not think he is a bad man. He has taken care of his father with love, kept his nephew with him, and loves him as well. Although he is cruel to him, he still sends him food, perhaps out of guilt. He believes that he built the business himself and is under immense pressure, which sometimes makes him strict.”
