I got a great response from it, I received long messages from female fans who told me that they have been suffering with the same in their lives and their husbands are also like that. It was great to see that people were relating to it but I felt sad for those women.”
Talking about changing Ruswai’s regressive script, he said, “Ruswai’s script was so regressive that we had to change it, in that, the main lead was supposed to slap female lead for ten times and afterwards he had to hit her badly, which we toned down and just filmed with only one slap”. Writer Farhat Ishtiaq clarifies the most confusing plot point. Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum ended with a beautiful finale. The drama had so much good about it but the love and chemistry between Mustafa and Sharjeena won hearts left, right and center. Mustafa and Sharjeena were fighting in the end due to the pressure of everything that they went through.
In the last 10 episodes or so, Mustafa became obsessed with earning as much money as he could while Sharjeena kept wallowing and crying as she wanted her old Mustafa back. The writer of the drama Farhat Ishtiaq spoke to Indian journalist Faridoon Shahryar and explained what this all meant. Farhat Ishtiaq said that Mustafa was not wrong and his reaction was natural after what he went through and Sharjeena was also not looking for poor Mustafa back.
She said that Sharjeena just wanted him to prioritize things better. The love and family should come first and she just did not want Mustafa to go after money. Sharjeena definitely did not want to become poor again, she just wanted Mustafa to control his money obsession.
Anmol Baloch and Ali Raza are shining in Iqtidar these days. The drama is getting a good number of views and it is a hit with the audience. Anmol Baloch and Ali Raza revealed that they had to shoot the promo shot on the very first day they met. They did not know each other before and Ali had to pick up Anmol in order to get the shots. Ali revealed that he has always tried to maintain a distance with female colleagues while Anmol is also very particular. But these two were comfortable together and their vibe matched.
They later on had romantic scenes as well but their vibe was positive and they were very professional. Both the actors revealed that their romantic scenes were mostly improvised and they did not rehearse anything so it looks natural.
Naeema Butt is the breakout star of Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. The actress has appeared in dramas like Jindo and Ehd e Wafa before but this time she made the story flow through her. Rubab played by Naeema Butt ended up becoming everyone’s favourite despite being a grey character. People loved her boss lady vibe and how she never backed down despite getting betrayed by the love of her life.
The drama ended with a cinema finale but Neema Butt could not attend the premiere as she was travelling. She has also been giving some interviews and fans are loving her personality and aura. But looks like Naeema was not happy with how everything was set up at the premiere.
Naeema Butt reposted a series of stories on her Instagram where her character being sidelined was discussed. Her picture was not on finale posters though she was one of the biggest stars of the drama and she shared the concerns of these fans on her own Instagram. Looks like Naeema is not happy with Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum team. Here is what she posted:
Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum raised the bar too high this season. Fahad Mustafa made a grand comeback on television screens and with him came back the original Pakistani drama with a real and relatable story, no unnecessary abuse or toxicity and a lesson for the viewers in addition to entertainment. Unfortunately, Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum has ended now and fans would love to see some more dramas with a similar vibe.
Here is a list of dramas to watch if you miss Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum:
Aangan
Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Qasim Ali Mureed, Aangan is a masterpiece that will help you relate with your own family life. The drama is a reminder of how family relationships were the first thing focused on in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. Aangan deals with the complexities of a joint family and will pull you in from the very first episode.
Sabaat
Sabaat stars big names like Mawra Hocane, Sarah Khan, Usman Mukhtar and Ameer Gilani. The drama will put Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’s sibling rivalry to shame. Miraal played by Sarah Khan was an Adeel on steroids but the story has deeper meanings and it is also a reflection of how wrong parenting leads to horrible adults.
Suno Chanda
Suno Chanda though falls in the realm of comedy and it is the modern pioneer of Ramadan dramas, it is still a family story at heart. If you want to have those feelings of romance and angst but mixed with a bit of comedy, go watch Suno Chanda. This drama also has a highly loved onscreen pairing of Ajiya and Arsal just like Mustafa and Sharjeena.
Baby Baji
Baby Baji was a sleeper hit when it was released, something that its sequel could not do. What connected the audience to this drama was the light shone on the relationships of parents and children. How marriages change people and how important making an effort for your older relationships is. If you hated Shagufta from Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, you will love Baby Baji.
Hum Tum
Hum Tum is another drama that tackles different kinds of parenting. How girls are as important as boys while supporting your children financially is the duty of a father. The show also had strong and subtle messaging on women empowerment plus the fun and games in the parallel keep you thoroughly entertained.
Kuch Ankahi
Starring Sajal Aly and Bilal Abbas Khan, Kuch Ankahi is a story about inheritance laws. The show like Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum is a simple yet relatable family story with characters that move you with every episode. Sajal Aly gave a beautiful performance and her chemistry with co-star Bilal Abbas Khan and the second lead Sheheryar Munawar will keep you on your toes.
Diyar e Dil
Diyar e Dil shot in the beautiful Skardu has a strong star cast, a beautiful script and it is considered a classic of modern Pakistani television. We saw how old customs destroy blood relations and how family in the end is the most important asset. The drama will transport you into a fantasy world but with a story that is very real.
Dur e Shehwar
Dur e Shehwar is not just a drama but the story of every woman from the sub-continent. Sanam Baloch and Samina Peerzada made this show evergreen. With Umera Ahmed’s writings, you will see the struggles of women like you got to watch the struggles of men through Mustafa in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. The show is hard hitting and it will shake you emotionally.
Aunn Zara
Before Suno Chanda became a massive hit and started a train of Ramadan shows every year, it was Aunn Zara which brought back fun and light-hearted comedy wrapped in family conflicts on television. The OG pairing of Maya Ali and Osman Khalid Butt rocked in Aunn Zara. It is still loved by millions and it will refresh you when you watch it.
Chaudhary And Sons
Chaudhary And Sons had a huge cast with big names and this will make you fall in love with it with its strong story. The problems cast by families on inter-caste couples in Pakistan are still very much in fashion. Even in 2024, Pakistani couples go through this and many a times, families cut them off if they decide to be together. How egos ultimately kill relationships while tolerance saves love is the theme of Chaudhary And Sons. A must-watch for all the family drama genre fans.
So, Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum is over but these dramas will surely keep you entertained!
