Hum Awards 2025 took place in Houston this year. This was the 10th edition of the show and there was some serious star power. Pakistan Idol is the newly launched Pakistani version of American Idol, a popular musical reality show. The show has brought the globally acclaimed franchise back to Pakistan and is scheduled to air on Green Entertainment. The first few audition episodes are about the nationwide search for singing talent, with judges Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Bilal Maqsood on the panel. Do Kinaray was a mega hit on Green TV starring Junaid Khan and Momina Iqbal in the lead roles. The drama started off as a typical family politics show but Dureshehwar’s uniquely toxic character made it special. What started to viewership was how Waleed played by Junaid was completely opposite to men whom we saw on screens. He was not toxic and he would go to any extent for Dureshehwar.

Waleed in Do Kinaray was in love with his wife. He would tolerate every curve ball she would throw his way and fans complained how he lacked a back bone. He kept loving her till the end and he still wanted her to be comfortable in her life despite whatever she did to him and their daughter Dua.

In an interview on Green Prime, Junaid Khan spoke about why Waleed loved Dureshehwar so much. He stated that Dure was the first woman he ever loved and when she belittled him, he felt he was lesser and she deserved even more from his side. He added we have a problem as humans that we navigate towards negativity and toxicity and this is what Waleed kept doing.

Mohra is Geo TV’s hit prime-time drama serial featuring popular actors Laiba Khan, Aagha Ali, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Syeda Tuba Anwar, and several other Pakistani stars. The story revolves around a simple girl who becomes revengeful after her sister Anoushay’s suicide, for which Sikandar, her secret husband, is responsible. The drama is produced by 7th Sky Entertainment, directed by Mohsin Mirza, and written by Tahir Nazeer.

So far, Geo TV has aired 41 episodes of the drama. This week, the channel aired a mega episode on Friday. The drama initially received praise but has now completely lost its plot, shifting focus from revenge to unnecessary conflicts between the characters in an apparent attempt to extend the story for views and ratings.

In this episode, Hamza’s mistrust of Alizeh’s past is the main highlight, for which the viewers are mocking the makers. Lazawal Ishq is Pakistan’s first reality dating show, which has been airing on Digital platform YouTube. The dating show’s format has triggered significant public backlash. The show is being hosted by actress Ayesha Omar and it has been filmed at a villa in Turkey, the show features eight Pakistani contestants (four girls and four boys) living under one roof in a quest to find their forever love.

Pakistani public and a few celebrities are quite vocal against the concept of Lazawal Ishq and they have called it out multiple times. Fiza Ali has also openly called out the format of the dating show in her morning show Morning with Fiza.

Talking to the guest speaker about it, Fiza Ali said, “Now this is also being done in a sophisticated way that they are promoting dating and vulgarity in a reality show, they are harming the respect and values of society, dating shows are now being run on digital media, where they are teaching people how to date, how to be nude, and how to promote vulgarity. Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi is a Hum TV’s popular prime-time drama series, conceptualized by ace Pakistani actor and director Shamoon Abbasi, written by Syed Nabeel, and directed by Saife Hassan under the banner of MD Productions. Talking about his script, Shamoon Abbasi said, “My artwork was larger than life and closer to fantasy. I wanted different furniture, better believable lighting. I had to show a vintage feel to it like Lord of the Rings. We had to show cute people, but all of them are frowning. Arsalan is super slow in dialogue delivery; he’s so lazy when he talks. He has ruined the script — he was supposed to be in a rush because he was the man who had anxiety, he just wanted these months in Haweli to pass. I wanted Syed Jibran as the elder brother, who was a stylish corporate man and Wahaj as a rockstar”

He further added, “Nabeel had no idea what to do with the script. The writer Nabeel isn’t able to write on his own; he writes in a group. I had to instruct him over the phone and made him delete multiple scenes. His comic side is good, but he can’t write independently.”

Talking about the casting, he said, “I wanted Syed Jibran as the brother, Saqib Sumeer as the Jinn, Sajal Aly as Khushi, Ali Raza in Wahaj Ali’s role, Mizna Waqas for Tamkenat, and Gul-e-Rana in place of Nadia Afgan.
