Asha Bhosle is an Indian legendary singer who passed away this week. She has a huge legacy as the sister of Lata Mangeshkar as well as the record holder for the most sung playback songs in the world. Her magical voice and beautiful melodies have lived on for years and fans have loved her not just in India but globally.

Asha Bhosle also has a huge fan following in Pakistan as her songs have been listened to by three generations at this point. She passed away at the age of 92 after brief illness. The news was reported worldwide and Geo News also reported it while giving tribute to the singer. The tribute, however, landed into the weirdest controversy.

Geo News was served a notice by PEMRA for airing “Indian content” as they played her songs during the package. This was shocking even to the management of the channel.

Managing director of Geo News, Azhar Abbas also tweeted on X about how this is standard to revisit an artist’s work when they pass away but they have been served with a notice:
