Ishrat Fatima is a senior PTV and Radio Pakistan newscaster who has served the media industry for nearly three decades. She became a household name across Pakistan due to her iconic 9:00 pm news bulletin on PTV. Currently, she is associated with Radio Pakistan. Ishrat Fatima is happily married and lives with her beautiful family in Islamabad.

Two days ago, Ishrat Fatima announced her official retirement, and yesterday she shared a vlog on YouTube in which she revealed the painful reason behind leaving Radio Pakistan. The news anchor explained how she was forced by authorities to make the decision to leave Radio Pakistan.

After her detailed vlog, complaints and the massive public backlash, the Government of Pakistan reached out to the news anchor.

Federal Minister Atta Tarar visited her house in Islamabad and offered her services at PTV. He said, “She is like an elder sister. I visited her and requested her to join PTV which is her home. She should join PTV as a mentor to teach new people, we need her so that she can teach new people how to deliver news and train them. She has always served PTV and Radio Pakistan without any political affiliations and has always been a thorough professional. Soon, she will join PTV as a mentor. Obviously, leaving Radio Pakistan is her decision, which we respect, but she can rejoin PTV, which is her home.”

Ishrat Fatima said, “Thank you so much for reaching out to me. It encouraged me. This decision was hard. Although I am at a stage where I was already preparing for my wind-up, I still gave my heart and soul to this job and want to do this job till my last breath. People like you should ensure that professionals like us do not get upset or sidelined.”
Social media users are appreciating the government’s step of offering her a mentorship, but a few are still skeptical about her getting a job at PTV due to the channel’s deteriorating situation. Many said that Ishrat Fatima still looks very upset after what happened to her by her institution. A few also believe that she should be reading the news, as that is her job.
