Recently, Haroon Shahid appeared in ARY Digital’s morning show Good Morning Pakistan, hosted by Nida Yasir. In the show, he said that heavy Haq Meher is like girls’ parents seeking financial security for them.
Talking about it, Haroon Shahid said, “I have a daughter and I don’t want anyone to talk with her in harsh tone. For example, if I give my son in-law a condition to give my daughter property, but on the other hand, he is degrading her and talking with her badly, it is useless financial security. I think the parents who demand heavy Haq Meher are those who want their financial security. They think tomorrow their daughter will become a burden on them. Honestly, I think it is like parents seeking their own financial security. Another bad manner is, the high demand at the time of Nikah, the Haq Meher debate is so least concerning. Haq Meher should not look like a business deal. It should also be up to man’s financial stature. My observation is you aren’t demanding your daughters security, it’s your own security. What if you achieve a big haq Meher quotation but your son in law is morally corrupt.
