Legendary Indian ghazal and classical singer Pankaj Udhas passed away today. The veteran singer was famous for singing multiple hit ghazals including Chitti Ayi Hai and Chandi Jai Rang. He also got the prestigious Padmashri award. The singer passed away due to a prolonged illness. He was seventy three years old.
The singer’s daughter Nayaab Udhas shared the news of her father’s passing on her Instagram. Nayaab wrote, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to prolonged illness”
The iconic ghazal singer rose to fame through his ghazal album “Aahat” which was released in 1980. He then sang unlimited hit ghazals and songs which include “Mukarar,” “Tarrannum,” and “Mehfil.” His song “Chitthi Aayee Hai” from the film “Naam” became immensely popular. Pankaj Udhas received multiple prestigious awards in India. He also sang with famous Indian singer Lata Mangeshtar. The art and entertainment lovers are sad on the death of the legendary ghazal singer.
