Masoom is Hum TV’s new drama serial featuring Sonya Hussyn, Mikaal Zulfiqar and Imran Ashraf. Drama serial Masoom is directed by Barkat Siddiqui and co-produced by Momina Duraid Productions and Barkat Siddiqui. The script is written by the writing agency Content Line. The first episode of the drama series garnered around 6 million views and the latest second episode collected 2 million views.
Masoom features the story of a young aspiring singer Dilshad Faislabadi, who falls in love with Neeli, the daughter of his landlord. Dilshad migrates from Faisalabad to a big city in search of better opportunities as a singer. Neeli, however, marries her wealthy boss, a man with a child and an elderly mother who needs care. The character of Neeli’s boss is played by Mikaal Zulfiqar.
The plot of Masoom bears a strong resemblance to the Bollywood movie Woh 7 Din, one of Anil Kapoor’s early projects. Woh 7 Din tells the story of a young girl from a poor family who falls in love with an aspiring music director who comes to her house as a tenant, but she ends up marrying a rich doctor who also has a child and an ailing mother at home. The character of the doctor in Woh 7 Din is played by Nasirrudin Shah. Surprisingly, frames, locations are also inspired from the film Woh 7 Din.
