Ishrat Fatima is a senior PTV and Radio Pakistan newscaster who has served the media industry for nearly three decades. She became a household name across Pakistan due to her iconic 9:00 pm news bulletin on PTV. Currently, she is associated with Radio Pakistan. Ishrat Fatima is happily married and lives with her beautiful family in Islamabad.
Yesterday, Ishrat Fatima announced her official retirement from Radio Pakistan, but today she shared the painful reason behind leaving Radio Pakistan. Ishrat Fatima uploaded a detailed video on her YouTube channel.
Ishrat Fatima said, “Yesterday, I announced that I was leaving Radio Pakistan. I often share even unimportant things with you because I feel you are like my family. Yesterday, I said that I was going to take one of the most difficult decisions of my life, and I asked you all to pray for my strength and positivity because I was emotionally very upset. I started news casting in 1983, and news reading was my passion. I have spent my entire life in this field. News anchoring was my love, my passion, and my way of life. I had decided that I would do this work all my life, but I am thankful that I was able to do it till today. I thank PTV and Radio Pakistan for giving me the opportunity. It is unprecedented to receive so much public love, although I always tried my best to do justice with my job. Money was never important for me; my work was always my top priority. Yes, money came through it and helped me, but you must do justice with your work to deserve your space. I don’t know whether this is our society or the law of nature, but when you can’t compete with someone, you conspire against them. When you can’t beat someone professionally, you start doing negative things against them. When you can’t show professionalism, you start cutting the paths of others. When you are on merit and doing justice with your work, you are still forced to take a decision to leave. They decide to take your space or make you quit. They decide to take away your passion from you. I waited, tried to survive, and adjusted through my hard work and dedication at Radio Pakistan, but it didn’t happen. I was made to realize multiple times that I was not important for Radio Pakistan.”
She further added, “I returned the flowers with a heavy heart that were given to me at my retirement. There are many things that I don’t want to mention about this institution because I earned from it. However, I thought a lot and realized that this radio does not think about its employees and has no emotions for its legends. I am sad that this institution is just a building. I loved this place, but they didn’t stop me. I am in pain and sorrow. I am perfectly healthy, I read perfectly fine, I have a great accent, and I never made mistakes. But where do I stand? Nowhere. I am sitting at home. I know people will make fun of my video, but I wish someone would realize my love. I am in pain, and my family is with me. My children, mother, and husband supported my decision to leave. Thank you for all the love. I will try to stay connected with you through my digital media. Please do remember me.”
