Kahna Tragedy – Media’s Insensitivity Towards Grieving Parents Sparks Backlash

The Kahna tragedy in Lahore is one of the most heartbreaking incidents to have taken place in Pakistan. On June 30, 2026, the roof of a tuition centre in the Basti Eid Gah locality of Kahna Nau collapsed. The tragic incident claimed the lives of 14 schoolchildren and injured several others. The children, mostly between the ages of 7 and 13, were trapped under the heavy debris along with their teacher. The roof reportedly collapsed due to poor construction. The tragedy devastated multiple families who lost their beloved children. Even more heartbreaking is the fact that all of the children belonged to underprivileged families whose parents could not afford to send them to a better and safer educational facility.
