The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to begin from March to May 2026 with an expanded format. This year marks a major shift in the league, as it has transitioned from its traditional draft system to a historic player auction model. Currently, player auctions are being held and multiple sports personalities are taking part. However, the PCB is facing severe public backlash for allegedly snubbing big names like Umer Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad due to reported grudges, as claimed by the cricketers themselves.

Recently, Kamran Akmal expressed his anger at the PCB for not considering his younger brother and ace batsman, Umer Akmal, in the PSL auctions.

On Har Lamha Purjosh, when host and cricketer Shoaib Malik said, “Today, Kamran Akmal is angry as he also tweeted for Umer Akmal,” Kamran Akmal replied, “I am not talking about my brother’s selection. Selection is a later story — he wasn’t even considered for the auction by the officials, which is an injustice to a player. He wasn’t even given a chance.” Basit Ali also added, “He tweeted after I asked him to. Umer Akmal is a fine player, it is injustice with one of the best middle order batsmen. He should have given a chance. We want to ask the chairman PCB who gave the names for the auction. Have they ever played cricket? The selection is done on the basis of favouritism” Watch here.
Taking to his Twitter, Kamran Akmal wrote, Unfair system…, disappointed ! Why was Umar Akmal’s name not in auction???Read what Kamran Akmal tweeted :

He further added that the players who have no experience, or are out of practice, have been taken in to the bidding but Umer Akmal wasn’t considered being sent to the auctions.
