Khaled Anam is an actor, musician and activist. He is among a handful of artists who have always been vocal about the realities of society. He does not bend to political pressure and he always says what is on his mind. He has worked in projects that he felt were right and he still makes social commentary which is against many of the established Pakistani hierarchies.
Khaled Anam was a guest on a podcast and he spoke about several things. He has something to say about modern Majalis and it makes perfect sense. Majalis are organized by Ahl e Tashieh as well as Sunni communities and the lives of Ahl e Bait are taught. Like all other things in life, Majalis are also being modernized and some basic etiquette get compromised which Khaled Anam spoke about.
Khaled Anam said that one should not do anything which is against the teachings of Hazrat Muhammad SAW. He shared that he has seen nowadays a lack of pardah in Majalis, women come around in juloos without the chaddars and the concept of mixed majalis is gaining momentum. He said mixed majalis should not be conducted. Men can be taught separately while women should have separate majalis. He narrated that once he attended a majlis with Jaun Elia who was sitting on the ground without AC and said that the real meaning of observing Ashura is to bear this heat like Ahl e Bait did.
