In October 2024, the digital creator became a target of social media bullying following her father Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar’s kidnapping controversy and some of his statements, particularly the one regarding Saba Qamar. At the time, Hijab Khalil did not respond to the trolls, but she has now opened up about how the bullying affected her.
Speaking about the experience, Hijab Khalil said, “People trolled me over my father’s illness post the kidnapping scandal, saying things like, ‘Oh, he can’t go outside during the day, so he chose to leave the house at night.’ Before that, my father had made a comment about an actress about the way she dressed, so people trolled me over that as well because I wear Western clothes—not in a vulgar way, but in a Gen Z style. Even then, social media trolled me badly for the way I dress, saying, ‘Look at yourself and then look at your father’s statement. What are you wearing?’ I didn’t react to it, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t affect me. I’m not a robot. Then influencers came on podcasts, sat on their chairs, and shamed me over my father’s kidnapping. It’s insane and inhuman. Stop doing that”
