Dr Bahu is a popular Pakistani drama serial that is nearing its end, as its second-last episode has already aired on ARY Digital. The drama is written by Sanam Mehdi Zaryab and directed by acclaimed Pakistani director Mehreen Jabbar, who has previously helmed hit dramas like Daam. The show is produced by Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Nasib. Kubra Khan plays the title role in the drama. The series has received both immense praise and criticism, particularly for Kubra Khan’s pairing with Shuja Asad, which faced severe backlash, with many viewers saying that she looks older than Shuja.

Recently, Kubra Khan appeared on Maliha Rehman’s YouTube show, where she responded to the criticism surrounding the drama.

Talking about her pairing with Shuja Asad, Kubra said, “Of course the criticism did affect me. Just because I didn’t respond doesn’t mean I didn’t feel bad about it. Also, in our industry and culture, there is a mould that no one can fit into because it’s too small. They want a girl to be thin, size zero, tall, and fair, and if you don’t fit into that mould, you are not considered beautiful. I am not size zero. I am not like conventionally beautiful women. I have faced this for a long time, and I have been affected by it. I decided not to respond because it’s like talking to a wall. I saw pictures and videos where people targeted my weight just because it was the trending topic.”
She further added, “They criticised me on my clothes and my hair, they can be fixed easily. There came a point when I thought, a war is happening, and you are discussing my bangs and sideburns? Come on, guys, talk about something else.”
She further added, “In the first two days, my hair wasn’t the way I had expected. The haircut was inspired by the puffy hairstyles of the ’90s. I had bangs long before, but they went viral that day.”
