Dar-e-Nijaat is a popular Pakistani drama written by Umera Ahmed, directed by Saqib Khan and produced by Sheheyar Munawar Siddiqui. The drama series is getting huge public and critical acclaim, as well as criticism for its problematic storyline, with many saying that it is annoying to see Abubakar being forced into an unwanted marriage with Zaryab.
Mahnoor Rahim, who is a famous Pakistani former model and an active digital creator, has called out Dar-e-Nijat’s problematic script for normalizing unacceptable behavioural patterns in society.
Talking about it, Mahnoor Rahim said, “Zaryab is getting married to Abubakar to prove Zamil wrong, who is a psychopath, and Abubakar is marrying Zaryab on his mother’s orders because apparently, she is indebted to Zaryab’s grandmother’s family, who have done favours for her that she has to return. Also, if you have to return the favour, gift them something. Why are you sacrificing your son?” Zaryab is also telling Zamil to divorce Hamna and marry her. What’s the mistake of Hamna here? People in Pakistan are getting inspired by such actions, and in the comments section, many are praising Abubakar’s sacrifice. Such things should not be normalized, as they are wrongly shaping society.” Watch here:
Not only the digital creators but netizens are also calling out Dar e Nijat’s highly problematic narrative. One wrote, “This is such a poorly written script. Finally, someone sensible! Also; can we talk about how his desi mom is a master manipulator??” Another wrote, “Thank God I didnt start watching this drama regardless of how much everyone insisted me to start watching it!” A fan commented , “Thankyou, this reality check was much needed. Even if a girl receives that kind of message from his (to be’s ex) she will definitely run as she should instead of bowing head in front of Amma” Another wrote, “The way that emotional blackmailing is being glorified as hayee kitna farmanbardar beta hai” Another wrote, “In reality, there is no reward for such sacrifice. Btw, this is a drama written by a novelist. In reality no one saves you except YOU” Read all the comments here:
