The drama is famous not just in Pakistan, but also in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and other countries. The story is written by Nooran Makhdoom, the famous writer of Tere Bin, and it has been directed by Ali Faizan. The story revolves around Riya Khan and Kabir Khan, former family friends who turn into enemies.
So far, Geo TV has aired 49 episodes of Mann Mast Malang, and the storyline and execution continue to grow more controversial with each passing episode. In the recent episode, Kabir’s elder brother, Mobeen, decides to get married a second time in hopes of having a child. His wife, who has fallen into depression, is shown smoking. This depiction of smoking on national television is receiving severe public backlash.

Social media users are angry and upset with Mann Mast Malang’s continuously deteriorating plot. A fan wrote, “What are you showing, Mr. Director? The bhabhi is smoking — where are you taking society by portraying such condemnable acts?”
Another commented, “Smoking in Pakistani dramas is unacceptable.” A social media user also criticized the writer, saying, “Oh God! Nooran Makhdoom always surprises me. She made sure to ruin Tere Bin by adding everything that could make it look negative. Now she’s doing the same with Mann Mast Malang.” One viewer remarked, “She is properly inhaling the smoke and exhaling it from her nose — she’s a real life smoker.” Another fan added, “Showing smoking in dramas is the worst thing, and now involving women in it is completely unacceptable.
